R009: Exploring computer hardware and networks (2012)

Aims

This unit builds on Units R001 and R002 and learners will need to apply the skills, knowledge and understanding developed in those units. Learners will gain an appreciation of computer hardware and the range of platforms currently available, including gaming and mobile devices. They will understandthe characteristics and features of computer networks and how to design a network. They will be able to identify and provide solutions to a range of common hardware and network issues.

On completion of this unit learners will have acquired skills and knowledge that would be beneficial to working with IT systems within different employment sectors or within the home environment and they will communicate technical concepts effectively using terminology appropriately.
